United Health Care

Mr. Wicklund is the Vice President of Network coverage for United Health Care. Phone Number is 713-871-3025. My contact information is below.

Mr. Wicklund,

I have a condition known as CIPD closely related to MS and MG. It was triggered by the West Nile Virus in July of 2007. I have just been informed that United Health Care will no longer cover the cost of my IVIG treatments. These treatments are the only thing that allows me to be a productive person and function in society. Without these treatments I will end up back in a wheel chair as a ward of the state. Without these treatments, I will be forced to go on disability. The muscular system does not rebuild itself fast enough and my bodies antibodies are attacking my nerve endings. My muscular system will break down to fast to recover and the nerves will fire incorrectly sending the wrong message to / or from the brain. In less then a month I would be back in a wheel chair and could very well be close to needing home care. I would be looking at a very real possibility of death shortly there after. My Doctors can confirm this if you need them too. I have already failed my functionality test, but I keep on trying my best to function in everyday life. Now you are taking that away from me. Before you tell me to get another doctors opinion or try another doctor let me say that I went through more doctors and doctor referrals before we hit the combination that worked. We have already tried alternative methods. These treatments brought me back out of a wheel chair and have allowed me to function again in everyday life. I really think that United Health Care needs to reconsider their decision here. The treatments have worked wonders for me and I really don’t want to go back to the pain and suffering that I have already endured.

Having said that, let me say that there are many more out there just like me. Some were close to death and most others had to depend on someone else to take care of them. These treatments have given people like us a new lease on life. While we still have problems dealing with everyday life, the IVIG treatments have made it easier on us and has allowed many of us to stay productive. None of us want to become a burden on society but if we can’t work, I know It won’t be very long before I am out in the street.

Where do you propose we go from there. This may sound grim but it is in fact reality. Your company is signing our death certificate.

This isn’t the first time we have tried to contact you on this matter.

However on a matter as urgent as this one I think this time I will let my state representatives in the house and senate know we have a problem in the insurance arena. This problem could affect thousands and make them a burden to society. I will be contacting the following: Senator’s Ron Paul, Dennis Bonnen, In the House of representatives and Senators Kay Bailey Hutchison and John Cornyn in the Senate. I am sure that they would love to share with the rest of the country what is and has been transpiring in the last year or so. By the way I am not threatening in any way shape or form but I am a biker who votes and all my state representatives in the senate and the house are familiar with our organization it’s called TMRA II.

They have seen first hand the voting power of the bikers. I am going to take this matter to the people and let people know about the kind of care some have received by United Health. The outcome can be good or bad.

Remember they are trying to give the people a choice. Will it be your company or someone elses. Through the TMRA organization I have access to literally thousands of people. This email is being sent for publication to them. What do I let them know when they want a follow up to this story?

Hello Sputnik,

Looks like Obama care is kicking in. My health care insurance provider, after 3 years of treatments, that have kept me and others like me functioning, has decided that they will not cover our IVIG treatments anymore. I included TMRA II in my email so that maybe you can get it out to the other warriors and let them know it’s coming. Most of the biking community knows me as the GYPSY or GYPSY Robert with the Los Unos M/C. A lot of them know me from the 9 years I spent with the Gypsy’s M/C as the Songman and the 8 to 10 years before that through different MRO’s as a Texas freedom fighter. I met you in Ohio 12 years ago at the NCOM convention and you told me to get back to Texas and I did. I was and still am directly responsible for making sure everyone in our organization is a member of TMRA II before they can wear our Los Unos patch. That’s the first thing our prospect have to do, Join TMRA II. The letter below is to the Vice President of Network care with United Health. Please find a place for it in the warrior and feel free to send it to any MRO or Biker magazine that might print it. We are in real trouble here and I’m afraid things are going to get messy real soon.

Please since you have all the email addresses can you email this to all our Local, State and Federal Representatives and Senators. I need your help. The future for me and thousands like me are depending on the voters and some fast rule changes.

Thomas Wicklund with United Health care phone number is 713-871-3025. I need as many warriors as possible to flood that number and let them know that there are people that have to have these treatments to live. Without them it is just a matter of time before I and others are back in wheel chair’s or worse. It’s just a matter of time before me and others are…….well I don’t want to think about that right now. It really is a matter of life and death to many of us. Please pass the email around to whom ever you think at the capitol that can help with our cause.

This is one of our own asking for help. Call Mr. Wicklund’s phone number and ask everyone you know to read this and then make the call.

10NR08 - MRF News Release - National Mandatory Motorcycle Helmet Law

National Mandatory Motorcycle Helmet Law

The Motorcycle Riders Foundation (MRF) has learned that, in a hearing held this week by the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) repeatedly called for a national mandatory helmet law. The hearing, entitled “Opportunities to Improve Highway Safety,” focused on areas that need improvement when it comes to the landscape of highway injuries and fatalities.

In his opening statement, Lautenberg said that there should be a mandatory motorcycle helmet law for all riders in America. This is typical for the 86-year-old senator. He has routinely attempted to put a federal mandatory helmet law in place before. Lautenberg currently chairs or sits on every single senate committee that has jurisdiction over roads and road safety.

During this hearing, Lautenberg was not alone in his quest for an all-rider federal helmet law. As expected, the spokesperson for the Advocates for Highway Safety also voiced their opinion that a national helmet law is a good idea.

Fortunately, the hearing didn’t only focus on the helmet debate; in fact, very little of it did. There were other issues covered such as impaired driving, distracted driving, and big trucks.

As always, the MRF will keep you informed on this and all issues affecting motorcyclists from Washington DC.
