DEBATE

We watched the Debate last night and I would hope that you did as well.
CNN had groups together all across the country to get their opinions electronically during the debate and get a final opinion after it was over They gave Obama much higher marks than they gave McCain. What did you get out of it.
I personally felt that they danced around the main issues For instance:
When asked how they would handle the financial situation they couldn’t say what they would do as president because they couldn’t know exactly how much income they would have based on how the bailout went.
As a candidate I would have said I will vote against any type bailout until the new congress convenes. The problem is something they will have to live with so they should make the decision. I would immediately establish a bipartisan committee of both House and Senate members and have them take a hard look at every agency doing doing business under the federal umbrella. Any of those agencies that are not specifically appointed to the federal government by the US Constitution would be disbanded and the authority for that action would be returned to the states if they deem it to be a necessary function.
We would then look at those agencies that remain who overlap to handle the same duties. Congress would be told to consolidate them to become more compact, less expensive and more successful.
And finally those constitutional duties assigned to the federal government would be reorganized as federal agencies under direct control of those elected by the citizens or appointed by those elected to serve the people. Of course the first to be re-federalized would be the Federal Reserve. We will then do what other action is needed if any. That would show me that "I want to be your President and I do indeed plan to make real change!"
As far as International Security John McCain stuck to his campaign rhetoric. He continually started sentences with Senator Obama doesn’t understand, but he was surprised at just how much Senator Obama did indeed know and what plans he put forth for dealing with Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and even Russia. He again received the highest marks on that from the groups across the country.
There were very few new ideas came out of the Debate. The electronic polling showed without a doubt that Americans are tired of bashing. There were continuous lines running across the screen showing how each part of the conversation was being taken. Each time either would begin to attack the other the lines would show a noticeable dip. The most surprising part of the night was when Obama’s running mate gave his opinion as to how Obama did but McCain’s running mate did not speak at the request of the campaign headquarters.
I can hardly wait for the VP Debate on Cctober 4th.
