We lost a great Warrior Saturday. Don Poole passed away from an anuresym in the stomach on Saturday. Don was a true Warrior who was always there to help with anything that needed to be done. He never missed a State Convention, a State meeting, a Chapter meeting and Damned few Advisor Meetings. He was one of a kind and will be sorely missed.
Funeral services will be at 3 pm this Saturday at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Home on Hwy. 22 just East of I-35.
Some good news. Aldo, the man from El Paso was headed to the Advisor meeting when he was run over by a pickup driver. He was severely injured with numerous broken bones and one finger cut off.
We visited with him at Brachenridge HOspital Monday and he was released Tuesday to go to a rehab Center in El Paso. It ain't over but he is doing much better and worrying about his bike.
U.S.-India Peaceful Atomic Energy Cooperation Promotion Act - Vote Passed (330-59, 44 Not Voting) The House passed the conference report for this bill that would allow the U.S. to share nuclear fuel and technology with India for civilian uses.
We can’t allow Iran or North Korea to have nuclear energy but we will sell it to India. One Congressman said if we don’t sell them nuclear fuel they will be competing with us for oil and gas on the international market. Why couldn’t we just use that technology here and not depend on fossil fuel from abroad?
Motorcycle ban one of many sweeping edicts in China By Tim Johnson McClatchy Newspapers
http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/news/world/16197396.htmGUANGZHOU, China - When officials decided that swarms of motorcycles and scooters had become a plague on the streets of this huge city, they didn't wobble in their course of action. The solution? Ban motorcycles.
As of Jan. 1, the city's 260,000 or so registered motorcycles will be forced off the roads. Tens of thousands of people who use the vehicles to make deliveries or otherwise earn livings must turn in their motorcycles or take them out of the city.
While walking through the halls of the capitol we were about to get on an elevator just as Representative Gene Seaman was getting off. He stopped long enough to ask if we were aware that a helmet Bill to put helmets back on us would be introduced this session. We assured him we knew it and were prepared for it. This is the fourth Rep to inform us of this proposed Bill.
Rep. Leo Berman introduced HB 28 saying a child born to illegal immigrants in Texas could not receive benefits from the state. He was later reported in the paper to have said employers who hire illegal immigrants should take them down and get them registered. They would receive a card to stay in the country as long as they have a full time job. We checked with his office and were told he is going to introduce another Bill but they aren’t sure what it will say.
He can’t have it both ways for sure.
Ciro Rodriguez heads back to DC after defeating Henry Bonilla of San Antonio in the Congressional District 23 race. This was another Redistricting mess by Tom DeLay which seems to have backfired.
Only one race left to be decided in Texas this coming Tuesday. That is State House District 29 in part of Brazoria and all of Matagorda County.
Despite being deceased, Glenda Dawson won that seat and the special election will take place December 19th.
