Public Intoxication Charges in Texas by TABC

Sputnik has asked me as his secretary to send out a special request to all Texas bikers who have unfairly received public intoxication charges to please put your stories in writing to TMRA2 so that we can compile a large number of letters to be hand delivered to the capitol by Sputnik and given directly to Senator Whitmire's office. We also need them in writing to present at the next committee hearing on this subject as there will be more. Right now the program has only been discontinued for 30 days as a result of Bar owners filing suit against the state of Texas, because the Tourist industry has lost several large conventions as a result of the PI arrest program by TABC, and because of a large number of complaints. However the Capitol has not heard in large numbers from bikers who were unfairly arrested, or from the bartenders that were arrested along with them. According to the last committee hearing, the area's of Texas that had the most arrest were Victoria, Irving, Arlington, Austin, El Paso and small towns outside of San Antonio, like Bandera. WE NEED TO HEAR FROM EACH ONE OF YOU WHO WERE TARGETED IN THESE AREA'S AND OTHERS IN WRITING.

You need to provide in your letter

(where the arrest took place, how the arrest happened, when it happened, and your full contact information. Please also provide witness names and phone numbers for future contact. And the letter needs to be short and too the point, preferably no longer than half a page long.) Bartenders, we also want to hear from you, were you arrested along with the biker who was charged. We need your stories as well. Please send this info. To
TMRA2
Attn: Terri Williams
275 Old Lexington Rd.
Elgin, Texas 78621

Or e-mail it to: secretary@tmra2.org
Any questions please call us at 1-800-391-7608

You can also call and file a complaint with the info. Provided in
Sputnik's update below, but we still need it to be put in writing as well.

You could contact the House Chair Rep. Kino Flores' office at
512-463-0704 and Senate Chair John Whitmire's office at 512-463-0115.
Tell them to tighten up the TABC public intoxication regulations with
legislation during the next session and to put a stop to the stings until
specific guidelines easily understandable by regular citizens are in place
by law. Give us some relief from these indefensible arrests.

We can't fight this PI problem if we don't hear from each and every one of
you that had your civil rights violated. Thank you for your cooperation.
