New Poker Lobby

I have worked with Mike in the past few sessions and he is a standup man.
I have been corresponding with him on this issue for about three months. I am hoping we can combine our goal and their goal in one Bill. Should have something to go with by our state meeting.
The Democrat Convention will be held in Ft. Worth on June 9-10. Our BikerRights Caucus will be held on Friday 9th from 1-3:00pm in room 121-B. We need a really good turnout for this meeting so start making arrangements to get the day off.
I don't know what arrangements have been made for the Republican Convention as none of our Republican Warriors have forwarded any information to me. If this is read by any of you who are attending theRepublican Convention please pass along any information you may have for that convention.

Ex-TDP Staffer Heads New Poker Lobby

Mike Lavigne, former Chief of Staff for the Democratic Party of Texas isheading the new Texas Poker PAC, a group hoping to legalize Texas Holdem and other poker games in Texas and have them run similar to charitable bingo games.
And the leader of an anti-gambling organization that has managed to beatback the high rollers who have been pushing for casino-style gambling since 2003 says she hopes the backers of the new poker initiative know when to fold em.
Mike Lavigne, treasurer of the newly formed Texas Poker PAC, said the growing popularity of games like Texas hold em, fueled by televised tournaments, has spawned a cottage industry of underground games that warrants state regulation. By licensing and legalizing venues for such games, he added, the state could reap much-needed revenue. "What we envision is that poker games could be run along the same lines that the state uses for charitable bingo" Lavigne said. "Poker is a multibillion-dollar industry in this country, and it is down right silly that Texans can't benefit from that. Texas charities are losing out on millions of dollars because of our antiquated laws."
