TMRA2 Big Spring Chapter Birthday Party

I'd like to personally invite all of you to attend the TMRA2 Big Spring Chapter Birthday Party this Saturday. We will only keep enough $$$ in the local treasury to cover expenses, and retain enough to hold a fund raiser again next time, the rest will be sent to the State Office to continue our fight in Austin and beyond. We are proud to host a COC meeting inconjunction with our event once again. Come support the Texas Motorcycle Rights Movement two fold. Dont forget to stop and visit the Oldest Harley Dealer in Texas that morning, just down the road from us, for their 75th anniv. party. There are several reasons to come to Big Spring on Sept. 25th. Ride safe and we look forward to seeing you.

Update

Put out some yard signs for Richard Morrison and then went to Liberty County to do some walkin' and talkin' for Warrior Dan Ellis in his House Race. From there went on upto Old Sawmill Town to set up and try to get some support for the Associoation and all our candidates. Talked with Brother Mac of the Circuit Riders M/M about what it means to be a Welfare Rider and how important it was for Christian riders to become politically involved. He and the officers of his chapter didn't want to be known as being on foodstamps so they became a Supporter Member. Brother Mac said he was sure his other seven chapters in Texas would do the same once he talked to them. The president of one other chapter came out and after talking to Brother Mac he came by to pick up anapplication for his chapter. Mike and his lovely wife were there and we learned he had bought out Skeet in the Thunder Rallys Inc. Their next Rally will be "Iron Angels" at the Liberty Fairgrounds inearly November. Watch for information on site and in Warrior. Mike said this Rally will show on the Flyer that 1$ per registration will go to TMRA ll. We will also get free boothspace at the Rally. He said all the Thunder Rallys will do the same thing now that they are sole proprietors of Thunder Rallys Inc.
Got some new memberships and one renewal after talking almost non-stop for 15-18 hours per day. Dennis donated some shirts from the Fathers Day Run hosted by the East Texas Chopper Guys. Old Sawmill Town and G&N came through as usual. We made arrangements to get some campaign signs put up in Polk County for Warrior Chuck Hopson's House race. More riders came up Sunday morning wanting to hear about the association and took applications and we got away too late to get to the D/FW COC meeting. Sunday afternoon.
We have two meetings in Austin on Monday and will be in Arlington to spend the night with Mike Alvey on Monday night. From there it's on to St. Louis Tuesday morning for the MOTM. Will be back in Galveston and Brazoria Counties, Congressional district 22, to work for Richard Morrison next week and then putting out signs for Warrior Dan Ellisin Montgomery and Liberty Counties the week after. If any of you in those areas can offerassistance it would be appreciated. Contact your chairman at this address or call 512-971-6777.
The Big Spring Chapter is having their birthday party at the Cossock's clubhouse next weekend on Sept. 25th. (1610 Birdwell Lane in Big Spring.) They would appreciate support from all Warriors in their neck of the woods. For more info call 432-213-4421.

From A Warrior

A group of Bikers from all over Texas had a little "get-together" just acouple of weeks ago.. El Paso.. Big Springs.. Lubbock.. Austin... Houston and the DFW metroplex..
They came from all over Texas.. They rode in on Hondas, Suzukis..Kawasakis.. BMWs...Harleys.. I think there were a couple of Yamahas there also.. feel free to correct me if I'm wrong..
The bikers were wearing a variety of clothing .. jeans, boots.. vests ..jackets.. raingear.. (it rained like hell that day) Some wore helmets, others wore baseball type caps and still others wore doo rags.. Some evencame in there bare headed.. (Heavens forbid).. Yeah .. they did, all right..
There were some touring bikes, sports touring bikes, cruisers and some sportbikes.. Hell.. there was a custom trike and a rig with a sidecar..This was a motley crew, no doubt..
They came to this place and met for a single purpose and goal..They came here in all this diversity, as a unit .. All were welcomed and respected..All were heard and made their concerns felt by the others.. Republicans and Democrats.. even a couple of Independents.. The Fellowship and Brotherhood was like an electric current.. Even the brothers who were not members, felt it.. It is alive and it is REAL..
In spite of all that diversity.. you could sink your teeth in the Fellowship and brotherhood.. Guess what .. some of the fine Sisters were there, also..
There are a few on this newsgroup who know that feeling.. They KNOW.. what this post is about and the Fellowship and Brotherhood that I am addressing.. There are many who don't have a clue..
Those brothers and sisters from all over Texas were attending a TMRA II State Advisors meeting in Elgin, Tx. Many of us had never even heard of the place until that meeting was announced.. We came together for the purpose of determining our directions for the next twelve months.. There was no party,no drinking or carousing and nothing but the business of Bikers was on anyone's mind..
Every man or woman who rides a motorcycle in this State, have these men and women to thank for many things that affect your lives everytime you mount your motorcycle.. You can thank them for the respect that a police officer affords you when you come in contact with one of them.. You can thank these men and women for any respect you get from other vehicles who share that street or highway with you.. There are so many hidden benefits that you enjoy, that these men and women have contributed to you, as a motorcycleenthusiast..
These men and women are not anonymous or covert, their presence is felt in our State's Capitol building.. Their influence is known while our legislators do our business in that Capitol.. They hold meetings in their own districts each month.. Those meetings are open to all..and ALL are welcome to be heard and respected, regardless of your political affiliation.. Feel free to dispute or correct me for any mistake or mis-information .. Contradict me, if I have made any error..
Those men and women have been tireless in their efforts throughout our State.. They've made a difference.. They also deserve your respect..Whatever your reason for not supporting them.. that respect and gratitude is a debt.. if you ride a motorcycle..
TMRA II.. is an organization that serves a worthy purpose.. It is comprised of men and women who have courage and the convictions to stand up for all of us.. It is not any one individual .. TMRA II has a life of it's own..

Get Out and VOTE!

Get Out and VOTE!
Voter Registration Nears End For Texans ..........
As the Presidential Election of 2004 is upon us this November 2nd, one of the greatest rights given to us as Americans is our Right to VOTE. As the polls close and the dust settles with the election results coming in, let us remember and remind ourselves no matter what the results, how great it is to live in this country of ours. Let us be reminded of the last four years and all we have come through together as Americans. Win or loose, Republican or Democrat, Americans must stand tall and together as one America, united in keeping us safe. A famous American Thomas Payne said, “If there is trouble, let it be in my day, that my child may have peace.”
I believe the battles we fight today are the victories for our children’s peace tomorrow.
American Bikers, Semper-Fidelis to God, Country, Family, Flag and Honor.

This election cycle like all elections brought us politicians with great promises and optimisms for the future. Let us not forget the promises that were made and let us hold their feet to the fire to keep those promises.

The people we send to Washington have a way of getting lost along the way and they tend to forget who and why we elected them. If all of those elected would throw a leg over a bike and ride to Washington instead of flying, I really believe more of them would find the same appreciation for this country as the “God Fearing American Biker!” Something about the wind in your hair, fresh air in your lungs and a country back road that seems to never end brings it all together. America is not just a country, it’s bigger than that, America is in the heart and sole of its people. Something that is tugging at the heart of many Americans, especially those who “Ride to Live” and “Live to Ride” is the Patriot Act. The Patriot Act “must go away!”

The Patriot Act was created in a time of great despair and need to give our country a sense of security and to help protect Americans from immediate threats already inside our borders. That time has now past, America is now stronger than ever and it is time for us to rise up and take back the Rights of Freedom we have lost. There is so much power entrusted too government within the Patriot Act it will be tough to get Washington Politicians to let go.

If You "Live to Ride" and "Ride to Live"
We must all come together to fight and end the Patriot Act!

If You "Live to Ride" and "Ride to Live"
We must educate ourselves and others continuously to protect the freedoms we enjoy!

If You "Live to Ride" and "Ride to Live"
We must find a way to bring those not in the fight to come and join us in our fight to preserve the freedoms and choices given to us by our forefathers.

Samuel Adams said, I Quote, “The Liberties of our Country, the Freedom of our civil Constitution, are worth defending against all hazards: and it is our duty to defend them against all attacks,” End Quote.

Samuel Adams could have never imagined a hazard such as the Patriot Act or the other Liberties our Washington Representatives have taken away.

The Texas Confederation Of Clubs Holds 8 Meetings Bi-Monthly all across the Great State Of Texas and are open to all who want to be better informed on their “Freedom to Ride” and “Freedom to Live”. The Texas Confederation Of Clubs is working hard to bring Patch Holding Members Together through Communication between Clubs, Improving the Image of Motorcycling, Supporting Legislation for the Betterment of Motorcycling and Protecting Our Rights through the Courts,
“To Stop All Discrimination and Harassment.”
Please Attend a Meeting Near You. For further information on the Texas COC go to www.texascoc.com or call 1-877-385-RIDE.

Chairman's Update

We had a very good DA Meeting this past saturday. The meeting was informational, well attended and by our standards very long. One breath of fresh air for this meeting was the number of new members attending. It appears we may be about to get a new chapter starting up in San Antonio. Mr. Stateson and his two sons were present to discuss the possibility.
Another highlight of the meeting was when Mando, our dist 29 Advisor, showed up he was being chauffered by none other than Da'Lady(Rep. Chavez). The El Paso chapter had done a fund raiser and turned in $931 to the state office. They had designed a nice T-shirt for the event and we will see about getting some made as a state product.
The upcoming campaigns and elections were the primary topic of conversation Actually you might say the lack of campaigns was the most striking news to those present. Our main concentration is of course on the state legislature. We have 15 Senate seats up for re-election this year. Of those 15 only 4 districts ( 10, 26, 30 and 31 ) are contested.. That means that nearly 75% of the seats are walkins. It was agreed that of those four, district 10 should be a priority. We supported Senator Brimer last time based on his record as a State Rep. His ascenion to Senator was followed by arrogance and a downright go to hell attitude. We feel he should be met with the same go to hell attitude during this campaign. A win for his opponent is the way to do this.
The House races offer no better story than the Senate. Of 150 House seats up forelection, 92 are walkins. This leads us to determine that we have been teaching the first part of "Five Steps" long enough. It is now time to concentrate on Step Five. We shall put together another booklet and call it "Take The High Ground" or some such and will deal with becoming a legislator. Uncontested seats can no longer be acceptable.
Four of our Warriors are in contested races this year. Of course we all agreed that we stand by our own. We can't afford to lose either of these seats. If you live in Cherokee, Houston, Panola or Rusk county you are in House Dist. 11. Warrior Chuck Hopson needs your support. Contact his campaign at 903-586-2208 in Jacksonville and offer your help.
If you live in Liberty, Polk or the Eastern part of Montgomery county you are in House Dist. 18. Warrior Dan Ellis needs your support. Dan was very instrumental in saving our Rider Training Fund from being ttaken away last session. Contact his campaign at 936-327-4084 in Livingston and join his campaign effort.
Warrior Patrick Rose, 512-353-0664 needs support from those riders in South Traviscounty and Warrior John Mabry 254-753-6437 needs your help in the Waco area Don't wait to get involved and don't spare any effort to win these four seats. IF we are to convince our members to run for office in 2006 we must prove that we can put them in office.
If you have been active at all in the past then you know who in your district has supported our issues and who has been adversarial. Act accordingly. This election is too important to sit on the sidelines. Don't forget our nonmember friends like Reps. Hupp, Pitts and Hunter. If you have any questions on the contest in your district give us a call at 512-971-6777 and we will try to help by sharing what we know based on their record or stated goals.
Your chairman has been put in Congressional district 22 and will be busting butt to get Richard Morrison elected to Tom DeLay's seat. Any of you who live in Galveston, Brazoria or south Harris county please contact me and let's give this one all we have to give. It is winnable and we finally have the chance to show our true mettle
In other business we agreed that an 800 number should be forwarded to the office cellphone as I am the one to answer questions. It may mean increasing to an unlimited account on the cell but we shall see.
And finally we decided to set up the CALLING POST, currently in use by some chapters, to get out important messages during the session. It will cost $0.075 per call to notify members when an issue has hit crunch time and it is time to generate calls to our legislators. Remember the calls against the Pay-at-The-Pump insurance that paid off so well? When you get a call from this POST please make use of the information immediately. Only then will the cost be worthwhile.

Have I done that which I can do to the best of my ability?

HELL NO !! - but I'm trying.
