UPDATE

During the Democrat State Convention. Bones Productions hosted the 2nd run at Bucks on The Brazos to help finance TMRA2. Once again the attendance was low and Mama Blue again lost money. What a sad shame. We know the Warriors missing at the convention were not at this affair. Guess that portion of the state just didn't give a damn. Mama Blue reports that due to the lack of support from riders the Puddin' Girls will not return for the final Rally of this event during the 4th of July weekend. I now how deeply disappointing it can be to try and help someone who won't help themselves.
I applaud the Bones Production crew, as I am not certain I would be interested in taking their losses on the first two attempts and even try to put on the third segment. If you want help you must be prepared to help them.

*****************************************************

During this same time frame the East Texas Chopper guys hosted their annual Fathers Day Run at Old Sawmill Town. Advisor Dist. 1 Karl Ford gave his pep talk. Wild Bill mc'ed the games and kept the crowd on their feet. Dennis says they had their usual crowd and several new ones. Bro. Mac's Band, The Sons of Thunder, put on a really good musical show Saturday night. Bubbles and her crew had the Town looking sharp and rumor has it that there is hot water for the showers now. Bubbles and her hard working crew, especially the gate gals, work very hard to help make this rally a success and Bubbles does not charge TMRA 2 for using the park.
It wasn't mentioned but I feel certain George and Nancy were feeding the crowd some fine vittles for the entire weekend. So now we know where some of the missing Warriors spent their weekend. Thanks to everyone who helped the East Texas Chopper Guys maintain their standing as Platinum Members with a $1760 check to TMRA 2. They also signed up two new Warriors.
I missed all you fine folks but duty called.
Bubbles will host her next Sawmill Town Rally on Sept. 17-19. The East Texas Chopper Guys will be on hand to help out with that one in appreciation for the help they received.

*****************************************************

Another truly great event immediately following the convention was passed along to the office from a very excited Jan upon her return home. She called to say that when she checked the mail she opened an envelope from Gypsy International containing a check in the amount of $5000. This entitles Gypsy International to a Platinum Membership to extend to 10/2007. We are deeply grateful to the officers who voted to send this check to TMRA2. Thanks to the Gypsy Chapters who have seen fit to become supporter members in some category by adding $1 to their Rally registrations for TMRA2.

*****************************************************

June 24th we attended the Bad Company Chapter meeting. Though late starting they had a very good turnout with lots of information exchanged. We will leave that for their Report but two things bear pointing out. This chapter voted to drop the Bad Company name with a new name being chosen at their next meeting. They also voted to seek a new location for their meetings starting next month.

*****************************************************

The 26th found us back at the Aces & Eights M/C Clubhouse for the Rock The Caprock Rally in Levelland put on by Lubbock and Plainview chapters of TMRA 2 and the NW Texas COC. W O W! Wild pig for dinner on Saturday night and scrumptious breakfast tacos to culminate a full night of politics and fun.
That is the beginning and the end but in between was some of the finest cohesion of Brothers one could ever find. The Aces and Eights M/C is to the best of my knowledge the only club that requires membership in TMRA2 for every member of all chapters and I salute them. If I am mistaken please correct my assumption.
This is one of the most affordable events one can ever attend and no individual or club profits from the proceeds. Proceeds were divided between all three groups. $10 entry fee+ $2 meal fee gave two meals, camping and Saturday night band. Another outcome of this fundraiser/ membership drive was about 25 or more memberships and renewals and promises of more to be
signed at Old Glory.
Now on to the non political part of this event. The party had begun on Friday night and just got better as the weekend continued. We played pool had raffles and this group will become known as the founders of what must be the most fun you can have at a Rally-"Frog Races". An open ended box was sat down and a circle drawn around it. Frogs were marked with numbers and placed inside the box. I dentical numbers were written on the non playing area. Spectators picked their number and when all numbers were chosen the box was removed. The frog that hopped outside the circle first was the winner and the person choosing that number won. It was winner take all.
This was a real attention getter with some fast paced playing. This could possibly become a regular event on the circuit. Bobby says some official rules will be drawn up to make all things equal.
As the night was winding down we even had an amateur artist create a work of art by dripping candle wax on the bar. Time flies when you're having fun and suddenly there was the sun again and it was time to head back to Austin This is just a bare outline of an outstanding good time.
Unfortunately there was one downside in my opinion. There was almost no one there who was not a member of the NWTCOC. Another fine example of independent members not supporting those who support the association.
Mirror time Warriors.

POLITICAL

Senator Jeff Wentworth, R-San Antonio, today (Thursday) signed on as a coauthor of legislation that would require a record vote on every bill and make that record available on the Internet.
“Texans want to know and have the right to know how their senators and representatives vote on the bills that impact their lives,” said Senator Wentworth, a longtime advocate for open government. “Recording our vote on each bill, its amendments and substitutions would keep us accountable to the Texans who elected us.”
Under current Texas Senate and House of Representative rules, a legislator, with the support of two colleagues, may request that a vote be recorded.
If no such request is made, the bill passes or fails by a nonrecord voice vote. There is no record of how individual legislators voted on more than half of the 1,601 bills that the 78th Legislature passed in the 2003 regular session.
Senate Joint Resolution 5 by Senator John Carona, R-Dallas, and coauthored by Senator Wentworth, would change the Texas Constitution so that both the Texas Senate and the Texas House of Representatives would record their votes on bills, amendments and substitutions. Texans would be able to access a Web site that would tell exactly how each senator and representative voted.
The joint resolution also requires a record vote on the appointment or election of a legislative officer or other public official or the confirmation of an appointment to a public office.
This will be a big boost for our intent during the next session. If these are your senators contact them and say thanks. Start contacting your legislators and find out how they stand on the issue. The elections are coming and there is no better time to ask questions. Let us know what you learn so we can get out a report prior to the elections.

*****************************************************
My apologies to our El Paso chapter for very important omissions during the convention report. In rushing to get the report filed prior to going back on the road I had not yet received a very important message from that chapter. Here it is verbatim from Debbie:
Sputnik,
I was selected to go to the National Convention in Boston next month. As a matter of fact there are 4 TMRA II members going from El Paso and also one of our members was elected as SDEC and she will also be attending the convention. If there is anything that you want me to do at the National Convention, please let me know. This will be my first National Convention to attend so I really don't know what goes on. I will continue to fight
for our rights.

Debbie Rios
Secretary
El Paso Chapter
That is a real treat to learn that we did even better during the convention than realized. Kudos to these fine Warriors.

Projected Budget 2004/2005

7/1/2004 - 6/30/2005

Estimated Annual Budget for TMRA ll

Rent $ 7200.00
Utilities $ 1750.00
Phone $ 1450.00
Office $ 1400.00
Postage $ 1000.00
Warrior $ 9500.00
Travel $ 4800.00
Legislative Day $ 900.00
Membership $ 1450.00
CPA(book keeping) $ 600.00

Sub Total $ 30050.00

Salary based on $1750 per month comes to $ 21,000.00 plus taxes would run about $22,900.00 per year.
$ 30,050.00
Plus $ 22,900.00

$ 52,250.00 **
** This could vary slightly based on the need for equipment and/or maintenance.
This is an average of $4354.17 per month

Membership (1200) $25,500.00
Supporter (15) 1,500.00
Bronze (5) 1,250.00
Silver (4) 2,000.00
Gold (5) 5,000.00
Platinum (3) 4,500.00
____________
Total $39,750.00

That leaves an average of $1042.00 per month to come from events, chapters and donations. That is roughly $58 per month per chapter.
This is a bare bones projection and most definitely one we should easily meet. I plan to write a membership package to be sent to each member to help them meet the hoped for goal of 1 new member each. This will increase the cost of the August Warrior but I believe it will pay off.

Democratic Convention News

What a pathetic turnout for the Convention this weekend. The weather was bad but not nearly as bad as it was for Dream Town '94 in FT. Worth but where were the Warriors? We can only hope they were at Bucks on the Brazos or at Old Sawmill Town giving support to our cause. Those in Houston were in for the fight of their lives due to the drop in numbers during the day and the time of their lives at KOA during the off duty hours.
Friday we rode in to the assigned parking place, except for your chairman who was chauffeured to the front door in Greg's sidecar. This was just one of the firsts for us during a convention. Speakers talked before your chairman addressed the group. Our Caucus had several speakers including Robert Fletcher, President Texas Confederation of ABATE. His was a rousing call to arms and now I know what people mean when they say "That's a tough act to follow." Chairman Soechting spoke of continued involvement in our goal of government by the people. He congratulated us on our achievements in the political arena. Ro spoke of the support for our effort from NWTCOC. He invited all to attend the Rock The CapRock in Levelland next weekend. Tonya then spoke of the Central Texas Democrat Motorcyclists Association and invited others to form such a group in their area.
It was then my turn to offer another first. We welcomed two fighters for Liberty to our Caucus in absenteeism. Mike Rizzo and Penny Adams were officially given the run of the Floor during the convention.

We then broke out into our SD Caucus meetings. The race for SDEC Female, dist. 11, had our own Janet Mayeaux in the running for that position. Two men opposed her right to the position and it turned into a battle. Your chair was across the room as Janet stood up from her chair, walked up face to face and gave them a tongue lashing. I stepped out the side door, circled the room and entered the door at her back. Janet said when she glimpsed the Mohawk she knew her back was covered and she really dressed them down, demanding an apology for her county caucus. I had told her, win or lose don't cry." As she turned to walk away from them she faced me and said "and I didn't cry." I then explained to the leader how rude he had been and that he owed Janet a personal public apology. I invited him to let's go outside and have a cigarette but he chose not to go.
He did apologize to Janet and seconded her nomination. At that point Janet accepted his apology and offered her hand, which he accepted. She won by a landslide. Another first for us at a convention. We now have her Royal Highness Janet Mayeaux in our midst.

Back at camp we had beer butt chicken, baked potatoes, corn and lot's of fun filled chatting. Her Royal Highness knighted a few subjects after our meal. Early Saturday morning we headed back to town for the committee hearings, especially the Resolution Committee. We had five members on the committee with Mike as our spokesperson. All three Resolutions we had offered were passed. A group had introduced a Resolution for the Party to support legalizing the use of medicinal Marijuana in Texas. Mike and our Warriors then offered up a Minority Report to bring the Resolution directly to the Floor. It was great to watch the reactions of the new delegates during the committee hearings.
Your chairman was suffering greatly reduced breathing ability due to constant running between committee hearings and the Floor and the high heat and humidity. It became necessary to delegate some of the running and I am proud of the way our Warriors responded.
We were allowed to commandeer a table in the eating area where we placed free food for bikers only during the hearings. This allowed our members to have a private table where they could stop for a bite to eat and some of the women, headed by Tonya, delivered plates to those of our group serving on committee. Another first for the Warriors. Now it was time to head to the Floor.

Speeches and elections carried the first part of the Floor proceedings and then it was down to the Resolutions. We have several members going to Boston, including Warrior Charles Soechting as Chairman of the Texas DNC. Another first. We passed all three of our Resolutions on the Floor after a hard fought battle on the Failure To Yield Resolution. This time we were not successful based on our numbers present but rather by our reputation and the fire in the guts of those Warriors who took the time to take the fight to them. All three votes could have gone either way. We could easily have been set back 10 years due to the majority of the Warriors, ABATE members and COC members lack of involvement. I am confident this will not happen in 2006. The number of new Warriors who stepped forward this time and those we will enroll for the next two years will be ready to take up the challenge. Hopefully others who didn't make it this time will be back on the firing line as well.
Finally our Minority Report on Medicinal Marijuana came to the Floor. This Resolution drew so much opposition it took some time to finalize the discussion and in the final vote we had drawn so much support the Resolution was overwhelmingly passed. Yet another first where we passed a Minority Report on the Floor for another group.
And as a final first the Party recognized all delegates who had passed away since the 2002 convention. Our beloved state secretary, Cyndi Calhoun, received her final recognition from the Party as her picture and information was displayed on the big screen. I had run out of mobility and returned to camp but others said it was quite moving.

Back at camp again and it was indeed Dream Town revisited. Our 15 foot high Statue of Liberty stood proudly above the dining area. Uncle Sam stood to the side facing the Lady and the entire area was decorated with red white and blue bows. All this was a tribute to the time and energy put forth by Janet. Melt in your mouth brisket and all the trimmings served to cancel our hunger and the music from Colorado and band entertained us with Patriotic song. Those in attendance agreed they had the same feelings as in '94. It was truly inspiring to hear those first timers try to express their feelings of pride at what they had been a part of for the past three days. It is my hope that God grant me the ability to be present at the next such gathering as those who will be the leaders of this army continue to learn.
God Bless Texas and those who fight to reaffirm our constitutional REPUBLIC

Please pass along

Brothers and sisters;
It is time for us to awake and realize that the pledge we took when becoming Warriors is a pledge to the never-ending war for the future of our grand children. We searched for the enemy and realized that it was our lack of involvement. Thanks to our high level of involvement we have seen many changes in Austin. You have become true Legislative Warriors and now victory is ours to win or lose, between now and next May.

We have proudly confronted those in the capitol, declared our intentions for change and let it be known we would settle for nothing less than a return to our constitutional form of republican government run by the people of Texas. As a national speaker I have given talks on how to become a Legislative Warrior with Texas Warriors as an example of perfection. Those outside this state gladly embraced this idea and advanced the calling throughout their states. Others now use the "Five Steps" and the Mirror Test successfully.

This year, as part of my medical treatments, I have undergone two psychiatric evaluations and been diagnosed as being depressed. Though I told the doctor I did not feel depressed he said it was possible to be depressed and not know it. I was put on medication. My medications have been strengthened twice since then to relieve the problem. I told my psyche doctor that riding was the true way of relieving tension and was given a prescription to spend a minimum of one day per week doing nothing but riding.

Upon returning to Austin this weekend I saw all the uninvolved and uninformed riders ripping down the streets and highways without helmets and I did become depressed. These people ride around pretending to be brothers who are bonded by interest in the welfare of others when in fact they do not understand the meaning of brothers. They have no idea how they got the right to ride without helmets, pay less than $2000 per year for their bike insurance and cruise up and down the Houston HOV Lane. My guts were in turmoil by the time I reached the office.

My next evaluation comes on Tuesday the 8th. If I tell Dr. Baker the way to ease my depression is to allow me to see proof at least one day a week that our Warriors are indeed taking their pledge as Warriors seriously and have made a difference that week. Of course I'm sure he would say he couldn't follow through on that type prescription and he would be right.
But you can.

This months Warrior is the largest and most informational newsletter to date. Thanks to the Chapters and District Advisors who provided reports this month. Keep it up. Those who failed to provide information please correct that oversight next month. Thanks to Tony and Garry for their work on our behalf.
When was the last time you personally signed one of your riding friends to membership? Do it this month. Send in your renewal along with a membership application from a friend. If you are a Life member then send in two applications from your friends. I will ask Mike to keep records of who does this and post it in the Warrior. You will also receive a certificate proclaiming you as an Exemplary Warrior. We are the best and now it is time we become the largest.

We have three chances coming up for the weekend of June 18-20 to show our support. First is the Democrat Convention. You all know about that and we expect a great turnout. Several of us have gone all out to make this the best experience since the first one.

Second is the Rally at Bucks on the Brazos. This is a fantastic Rally and it helps finance our efforts. Any of you living anywhere near Glen Rose ( District 24, 28 or 30) who will not be in attendance at the Convention would be doing us all a great service if you attend this Rally. I promise you will hear music that will mesmerize you and the Puddin' Wrestling will blow your mind. The folks sponsoring this event took a financial hit trying to help out. Now I ask that you attend and help out our financial situation as well as show your appreciation for their efforts.

Third is the Rally by the East Texas Chopper Guys at Old Sawmill Town, two miles west of Newton, Texas on Highway 90.. A trip to Old Sawmill Town is an experience in itself. The games, music, food and camaraderie you will find at this event will make your heart sing for a long time to come. Any of you in East Texas stop in there and show your support for the sponsors and the association. Tell them Sputnik says hello and keep up the good work.

There you have it Fellow Warriors. Please make every effort to follow these requests. Sign up a member and help the Association, help yourself by having a very enjoyable weekend and the pride of creating a larger member list and help me to show Dr. Baker on my next appointment there are better ways to beat depression than with medication.

San Antonio Convention

Returned back to the office from San Antonio. The highlight of the weekend for me was a lesson on the Constitution by Congressman Ron Paul, Commissioner Jerry Patterson and State Rep. Hupp. The meeting was from 9-11:00pm. It was really great to see Tony & Linda Brownsword after so long a time. It was a real treat to see the new Warriors involved. The new female Warriors appeared less than impressed with how things were going.
Spoke with Senator Hutchison this morning and we discussed Senator Campbell's health. She said he is really feeling down about it. I will contact him as soon as possible and try to cheer him up. If you know Ben, and I mean really know him, it would be appreciated if you would contact him and let him know you care. If at all possible I shall go to Ignacio and visit with him during the Labor Day holiday.
Andy Stoody will be doing a write up on the convention for the Warrior.
I will be heading back to Houston Monday to arrange for Port-A-Pots and I have my Dr. Appointment on the 8th. I'll be back in Austin on the 9th and meet with Austin City Council on the 19th.
Wolfman is back and we will be getting the show started in time for the elections. We will be on air during the session again and hopefully be able to film Legislative day and run it.

NATIONAL FOCUS

The Border Patrol is touting their new Employment Authorization Document, formerly known as the Green Card. It will have all the safeguards such as finger print, facial scan, etc. And why is it so important to the Feds that these cards be virtually impossible to counterfeit? By their own words they want to be sure the right people are receiving US benefits.

Also along the border Mexican officials say they are concerned about a growing presence of members of the criminal gang, Maras Salvatrucha. According to officials this gang's members are moving up from Central America to establish smuggling lanes for drugs and humans. The Maras Salvatrucha was established in Los Angeles during the '80s and matured in El Salvador and Honduras after being deported by INS.
Maras members are easily spotted because their heads, necks and arms are often covered with elaborate tattoos bearing symbols of the gang's three main groups: "MS," "13," "18. They also have tattoos depicting dice, crossbones or daggers.
The gang reportedly has at least 200 cells along the border with each cell having at least 20 members. Reportedly they have established lanes in Matamoras and San Benito, Texas. One Border Patrol Agent said he hasn't seen any in custody but he has seen them. The Maras Salvatrucha is said to be one of the most deadly gangs anywhere. That means at least 400 blood thirsty criminals are poised to cross the border at will and have apparently already done so in some cases. It's time for the Feds to do what the constitution laid out for them to do.

New Jersey Clubs will stop having Ladies Night or face charges of Civil Rights violations. They are discriminating against men by charging them $10 cover charge while allowing women in for free.

In a special election to fill the seat vacated by Congressman Jankelow the voters of South Dakota have elected Stephanie Herseth to the seat. This is the second special election in which voters have replaced Republicans with Democrats. The way things are being battled around in DC right now I don't see that it makes much difference.

Speaking of special elections, the House is apparently killing the HJR to amend the constitution to allow for House members to be appointed rather than elected if half of them should be killed in an emergency. This is really great news for all of America but there is also some not so good news for Texans.
An amendment Resolution to accomplish the same thing has been introduced in the Senate. Death of the House Resolution will also kill the Senate Resolution offered by none other than Texas' own Senator John Cornyn. I can't even feign surprise.

And once again comes sad news of a hero being investigated for a political crime in Washington DC, the cesspool of the world. US Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell is being investigated for lobbying for a company to get a $1,000,000 contract without being bid. It is charged that he tried to get the contract for a friend who was his highest campaign contributor.
He is innocent until proven guilty but chances are he will be charged. What a shame.

This from North Carolina:
What a wonderful and hard- working legislative body we have these days. They spend lots of time debating the merits of mini-bottles, seat-belt laws and tattooing, but only a very short period discussing the merits of the governor's veto of 156 budget items before the House overrode him on 155 of them. As one of our senators says, the governor stands on his principles, but we survive on pork. This is the same senator who will not debate his rival on the issues. Frankly, I think that we should throw all of the bums out.

The Louisiana Senate passed HB109 but stripped it of the amendment allowing adult riders continue to choose. This is the same Bill already killed by the House once and the House sponsor says this move has killed the Bill. Maybe a hard ass Senator was good for riders this time.

Heading for San Antonio in just a few hours. Hope to find a reasonable number of you there.

Chair's Update

We spent part of this afternoon showing a couple of warriors the layout of the capitol. Just prior to going down we received a call suggesting that some senators were talking about introducing a helmet law this upcoming session. We initiated a check on this tip by asking a senatorial Aide to talk with other Aides to learn if there is any truth to this rumor. It wouldn't hurt to ask if your senator would support such a Bill. I know mine wouldn't.
Let us know what you learn. I am very curious to see how many responses we get from you. Results, or lack of, from you will be posted on the sites.
************************************************************************
I am sure you have seen the news that the Home Security Dept. has awarded a ten billion dollar contract for border security to a private company. The company, Accenture, is based in Bermuda. Just one of many companies moving overseas to cut the amount of taxes on their profit. According to CNN they work for eleven other governments. Legislators say the work will be done in America, by American citizens but this seems to be a dangerous precedent. No company hired by government has yet lived up to the contract terms.
************************************************************************
We spent a good bit of time interviewing Mr. Morrison in District 22 Congressional district this past week. This is the new district created by the redistricting vote during the first three special sessions. We asked some really hard, pointed questions of Mr. Morrison and he answered as passionately as any candidate we have ever interviewed.
We did inform the candidate of our goals and our passion to achieve them.
Mr. Nickerson is the next candidate your chair hopes to grill in the next couple of weeks. If you have the opportunity to interview any of the candidates in your district please do so and pass along the information.
Next week we will begin checking out the candidates in the House races with no incumbent. These will be important to our goals for the state.
************************************************************************
We stopped by the KOA Campground Sunday to check out the facilities. The only draw back we found was the distance from the camp area to the restrooms. We shall see about putting some Port-A-Pots in our area(at our cost of course.) If you haven't made reservations time is running out. At least the cabins are directly adjacent to the camping area.
************************************************************************
Watch the news tomorrow to see how the House votes on appointing Congressmen rather than waiting for an election. Hopefully you have all contacted your congressmen/women concerning. Of course should this HJR pass it would require a constitutional amendment but it is pretty hard to believe the public would get informed or even bother to vote.
************************************************************************
Received word from Del that Cindy's mother has passed away and they will be out of state for a while. Condolences to both and to Cindy's family also. Keep them in your prayers that their trip be as comfortable as circumstances permit.
************************************************************************
Starting Thursday our schedule will negate our being in the office for about ten days. The cell phone will be on and we will respond to email as often as we can get to a computer. Due to the cost of gasoline we will try to cut back on any but absolutely necessary travel. It will be a hard determination to make as each trip furthers our future successes.
If you live in a Representative district with no incumbent get out and talk to the candidates. That could save a trip from the office to that district but somehow or other these interviews are a necessary part of what we do. We have about two months to choose which races will receive most of our attention, especially State House races.
