During the past three and a half months your chairman has virtually lived out of a vehicle. My clean clothes are in the suitcase or laying in the back seat and my dirty clothes in the trunk. I have visited chapters, candidates, and COCs. Attended political functions, worked door to door voter registration drives and still have a ways to go.
These past two weeks have made me realize I will never get to all the candidates in time for the September beginning of the real race for political office. The heat and humidity caused some problems with breathing and I am back on heavy doses of Steroids and Antibiotics. Along with that the Congressional Race in my new District 22 must be my priority beginning in September. To that end I will purchase a new top line computer and get DSL or RoadRunner put into my house (at my expense) to do my best to stay on top of things until the election ends in November. To contact me call my cell phone 512-971-6777. If I am unable to answer the call just hang up and I will call back on the same day. I have upgraded my service to allow free nights and weekends plus more minutes.
I believe you will agree that our legislative goals remain the same. If you don't agree let your District Advisor know of any changes you believe should be made in time for the Advisor meeting on August 28th.
We plan to introduce our Insurance Bill, Failure To Yield Bill and a Joint Resolution to change the Constitution to require all Committee meeting votes on Bills and Amendments, and all Floor votes on Bills and Amendments (except Local and Consent Bills) be recorded votes. Votes will be made available on internet for a minimum of 90 days. Start now and contact your senator and Representative and find if they would consider support for these issues. Especially all of you if Chairman Smithee is your Rep, contact him about bringing up the Insurance Bill next session.
To find out who represents you now click on the following site, type in the information called for and then contact them on these issues. (you may have to cut and paste depending on how it comes through on your email address). Or go to the TMRA2.org website, click on legislative and click on who represents me.

We are working on recommendations for the upcoming state elections and will discuss them at the Advisor meeting. They will be posted as soon as possible after the meeting. Of course it goes without saying we must support our Warriors.
Representative Districts: These are our members who have contested races.
11 - Chuck Hopson - Jacksonville, Texas
18 - Dan Ellis - Livingston, Texas
45 - Patrick Rose - San Marcos, Texas
56 - John Mabry - Waco, Texas
We are working with Clif on possibly getting some Motorcycle Awareness Billboards put up around the state. We will be moving forward with this in conjunction with B.A.N.D..
I shall go home on Thursday 19th to take my wife out to dinner on our 45th anniversary. Haven't missed one yet and don't plan to start now. I'll go on to the Tyler Longriders Run from there on Friday and attend the East Texas COC meeting on Sunday. Will return to Irving to meet with Mike Moore, candidate for Rep. District 105. Will pick up the Sputnik Award to get it engraved and present it at the winners next chapter meeting. Will also pass the membership shirts to Butterfly to get up on the Products Site.
Hope to see some of you at the Advisor Meeting at the state office.
Have I done that which I can do to the best of my ability?
HELL NO !! - but I'm trying.
