The DOH Ride For Liberty was a huge success. The Riders were escorted to DPS Headquarters by Austin PD Motorcycle squad(eight of them.) The officers were cordial and friendly before, during and after the ride. One officer told the group to enjoy the city but to be careful. He advised them that car drivers don't pay attention and that he had been ran over twice.
Guadalupe was shut down to allow for parking beside the building. The Riders were very well behaved as Dan explained to the DPS Officers what had happened and turned in the formal complaints. News coverage was ample and Dan allowed us to address the group of riders concerning what had happened and how they should have handled the requests for searches. We explained TMRA 2 and then cut out for Bucks on the Brazos, outside Glen Rose, to attend the Rally by Mama Blue. We will continue to follow the investigation and report on the results.
Arrived at Bucks Friday evening and was greeted with the finest tent sleeping arrangement ever seen by this old rider. It was a 16'x24' two room tent with wooden floor, electric lights, large fan, full size bed and all amenities normally found in a house. Greg and I shared the facility if you can call a 45 minute nap sharing. During the evening we were asked to come to the Cleburne American Legion to talk to them about TMRA 2 during their meeting Saturday evening at 5:00pm. Left during the field events to keep the appointment. That meeting was very productive for the Association as we picked up members and sold some shirts. The Rally had everything you normally expect rider support. The attendance was not nearly what was expected but those who weren't present missed a fabulous weekend. Been a long time sine Friday evening ended at 4:22am and Saturday evening ended at 5:30am. Saturday evening we witnessed the greatest entertainment I have ever encountered during a Rally. Six nice looking, friendly young ladies treated us to wrestling matches in a ring of pudding. This was in no way a sexually oriented event. These ladies were not muscled weight lifters but their expertise was unbelievable.
As at every opportunity to make merry with your chair a donation was taken to pit him against two of the wrestlers. Whether from excitement or exertion this bout ended with yours truly taking his first ever whipping and grabbing the oxygen.
Saturday night the Band was mesmerizing. I have not gotten so engrossed in a musical performance in well over 25 years. Thanks to all who worked and those who attended the event. The band and the Pudding Girls will most certainly become regulars at our events.
Prior to arriving at Glen Rose, received a call from the Wall Street journal reporter stating her story was finished and was on it's way to the home office in New York. Upon our return to Austin we received another call from "American Bikers." We were informed by them that the video containing interviews with Bandido JW Rock and me had been completed and they were sending us a CD prior to it's release.
And finally a personal thanks to Tonya "Saucey" for all her help transporting me around for the past two weeks. Thanks to John for having accepted the infringement on his life also.
We shall now head to Houston to help Janet with final arrangements fo the DEM Convention. Call the cell phone or email chairman@tmra2.org foir correspondent this week.
Have I done that which I can do to the best of my ability?
HELL NO !! - but I'm trying.
