Central Texas Democrat Bikers Association

The Fight Continues

Saturday, May 22, 2004, motorcyclists from the Austin area joined together to help support the efforts of both the Texas Motorcycle Rights Association (TMRA II) and the newly organized Central Texas Democrat Motorcyclists Association (CTDMA). It was held at the Iron Horse Bar and Grill located at the corner of Waters Park Rd and S. Mopac. Through the efforts of TMRA II, CTDMA, Texas Wheels MC, Coyote Moon Dawgs MC, Latin Steel MC, Alliance MC, Brotherhood of Bikers, Hardcore Custom Cycles and Wicked Customs, the day produced approximately 8 new TMRA II members, 2 new CTDMA members, and most importantly, 25 NEW REGISTERED VOTERS.

The event was attended by Williamson County Attorney Candidate Janet Engvall McTigue, Candidate Lee Stewart who is seeking the office of State Representative for District 20 and by Jon Porter who has his eye on the US Congress. All 3 candidates were amazed at the efforts made by the biker community and even commented that they had no idea that bikers were politically involved. They were very receptive to the concerns and desires of bikers in our community and welcomed our support as well as supported our efforts. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Stewart even became members of The Central Texas Democrat Motorcyclists and will even be attending the meetings when able. I call that one step closer to keeping our rights..

For those that are not familiar with TMRA II and CTDMA here is a brief overview.

All of those involved in the TMRA II organization are known as Legislative Warriors. The Texas Motorcycle Rights Association fights bills that are unfair to bikers and any bill that violates the rights guaranteed by the Constitution. Sputnik is the man that makes this happen. He works tirelessly to protect the rights of all riders. He knows how the process works and how to work the process. Through the efforts of the TMRA II HOV lanes have open to Motorcycles. Bikers have received permanent medical exemption for helmet use. Received handicapped license plates for motorcycles, and the list could go on and on..Check with your local TMRA II group and join them for their next meeting. If you are in the Austin or surrounding area, TMRA II meetings of the Austin Minutemen Chapter are held the 1st Tuesday of each month at Vinny's Italian Restaurant located on Barton Springs Rd. in Austin. Meetings begin at 7:30 pm and generally last 1 hour. For more information call Glenn Dial at 512-247-4989. Also, visit the TMRA II website at:
Tmra2.org.

The Central Texas Democrat Motorcyclists Association is a group of individuals that have decided to become involved with the local aspect of politics. The main focus of CTDMA is to help get the vote out, getting people registered to vote and supporting the local candidates in their campaign efforts Meetings are held on the 4th Wednesday of each month at the Iron Horse Bar and Grill.
