COIR Call to Action Effective Immediately
Sunday, May 20th, 2012To all Texas COIR and associates:
We are initiating the network to act on a Call to Action and must do our part in conjunction with all other states involved. Come on Texas, let’s set the pace.
The US Congress has moved forward on the Highway Bill and recently named Conferees to negotiate differences between the House and the Senate. The problem we have here is that the bill that the House passed does not contain the language necessary to stop any federal funds from being used to finance Motorcycle only roadside checkpoints.
We need phone calls made to these Conferees to urge them to adopt language that does this.
Texas Senator: Kay Bailey Hutchison 202-224-5922
Texas Representatives: Ralph Hall 202-225-6673 (4th District. Cities include Rockwall, McKiney, New Boston, Sherman, Sulphur Springs, Texarkana)

Eddie Bernice Johnson 202-225-8885 (30th district. Cities include Desoto, Dallas, Lancaster, Balch Springs)
Email Link: (Will only let constituents email) http://tinyurl.com/bvtq966
Effective immediately, we need everyone to start making these phone calls, especially if one of these two representatives is yours. Everyone should call Senator Hutchins office, regardless. It doesn’t hurt to call the representatives if they’re not yours, because they are representing Texas’ interests on this committee. If you don’t get voicemail, try back on Monday May 20th. This simply means that we have already filled up the voice mail banks.
Please see the sample dialog below and act on it. Adapt accordingly if you leave a voice mail. Document the persons (or voicemail) named that answered the phone and the reply they gave you (if applicable), then forward that information back to your regional COIR Unit Commander or your COIR Outpost Unit Commander, who will in turn forward it to the Regional Unit Commander.
Sample Dialog for Senator Hutchins:

I am a constituent of Senator Hutchins and I would like her to push for adopting the language from HR7 prohibiting federal funds from being used to finance Motorcycle-only roadside checkpoints in Senate bill S 1813, and House bill HR 4348. Thank you for your time. (Document persons name with whom you spoke to and the reply they gave you)
Sample Dialogue for Representatives:
Hi my name is (First and Last). I live in _____________, TX. I (am/am not) a constituent of Representative (Hall/Johnson) who is a Conferee negotiating the differences between the House and the Senate for the Highway Bill. I am calling to urge that the language in HR 7 prohibiting federal funds from being used to finance Motorcycle-only roadside checkpoints to be adopted in House bill HR 4348 and Senate bill S 1813.
